The Dallas AFL-CIO Council was formed in 1956 from the merger of the Dallas Central Labor Council which was affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and the Dallas Area CIO Council which was affiliated with the Congress of Industrial Organizations.
The Dallas Central Labor Council, which was affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, was organized in 1910. It had earlier been known as the Dallas Branch of the American Federation of Labor. It merged with the Dallas Area CIO Council in 1956 to form the Dallas AFL-CIO Council.
