Marion Jones Callister (b. 1921) was a war veteran, lawyer, and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marion Jones Callister (b. 1921) was a war veteran, lawyer, and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marion Jones Callister was born on June 6, 1921, in Moreland, Idaho, to Orson Pratt and Annie Francella Jones Callister. He was educated at Mooreland High School. He then served in the United States Army for two years (from 1944-1946) and was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Nina Lynn Hayes on June 7, 1946, and they have twelve children. He received his law degree from the University of Utah in 1951 and was admitted to the Idaho Bar that same year. From 1951-1952 Marion served as the assistant County Attorney in Blackfoot. He was then appointed Assistant U.S. Attorney in Boise until 1957. He began his private practice in 1958 and continued there until he was made the State District Judge, Fourth Judicial District, Ada County Idaho. In 1975, he was made U.S. District Attorney for the District of Idaho. The following year he was appointed to the bench for the same district. He served as the first LDS member to hold the position of the Chief District Judge of his district. Throughout his professional service he was fully engaged in his church callings. Marion J. Callister served as a bishop in 1955 of the Boise Third Ward for six and a half years. He also served as a stake president and regional representative.
