Biographical History
In 1919, two Nevada regents, George F. Talbot and Walter E. Pratt, tried to persuade the Board of Regents to dismiss university president Walter E. Clark by presenting a resolution listing charges against him. These included condoning drunkenness and poor student discipline, misusing his entertainment fund, and other improprieties. When the motion failed, Talbot carried his charges to the legislature. The legislature appointed a committee to hear the charges, resulting in Clark being cleared of all serious allegations and recommending that Talbot and Pratt resign from the Board of Regents.
