Biographical History

Herbert Baker, son of vaudeville singer Belle Baker, was born Dec. 25, 1920; was a comedy writer for television, motion pictures, and stage; wrote the lyrics for the Broadway comic opera Helen goes to Troy, produced by Max Reinhardt; was headwriter for The Flip Wilson show, The Perry Como show, The Danny Kaye show, and the Mac Davis show; his numerous credits include An evening with Fred Astaire, Norman Rockwell's America, Dream wife, and the song, I love to love, written for Danny Kaye and Lena Horne; served as board member for the Writers Guild of America, West; was the recipient of several awards including two Emmy Awards; died June 30, 1983.

Belle Baker started her performing career in Jacob Adler's drama, The homeless; by 1926 she was the star of Betsy, a Rodgers and Hart musical produced by Florenz Ziegfeld; she introduced many songs including All of me and Irving Berlin's International rag; featured in the motion picture, Song of love (1929); died Apr. 1957.
