Dublin and Wrightsville Railroad.

The Central of Georgia Railway, formed from its predecessor, The Central Railroad and Banking Company of Georgia in 1895 was a dominant force in the economic life of Georgia and parts of Alabama through the mid-twentieth century. Through its many branch and subsidiary lines, land holding companies, and agricultural experimentation, it controlled much of the region's transportation and was a strong influence in the rural development of the area.

(Cont.) The Dublin and Wrightsville Railroad was incorporated in Georgia in 1881. Acording to the articles of association, the purpose of the company was to "construct, equip, and operate a railroad ... from, at, or near Wrightsville in Johnson County, Georgia through the counties of Johnson and Laurens to or near Dublin." The Dublin and Wrightsville track was approximately eighteen miles in length.

(Cont.) In 1886, the Dublin and Wrightsville received a loan from the Central Rail Road and Banking Company of Georgia with the condition that the company merge with the Wrightsville and Tennille Railroad. The merger occurred on Decemb3er 1, 1886.
