Biographical History

At their 1919 convention held in Des Moines, Iowa, the Danske Kvinders Missionfond (DKM) decided to begin publishing a yearbook. The Aarsskrift for Danske Kvinders Missionsfond was the means by which to update church members on work of the DKM. The yearbook, first published in 1919, was written in Danish and gave an account of all money received and spent by the society. It also contained articles highlighting various mission topics and projects and gave church members an opportunity to learn about mission work in which the DKM was involved. One project to receive coverage in the yearbook was the Santal Mission in India. Articles and pictures showed the mission work in that region and Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church (DELC) members who worked as missionaries for that mission board. The yearbook continued publishing until its last issue in 1936. The publication was discontinued after it was determined that not enough younger people in the church read Danish.
