Biographical History

Elijah Barwell Impey was the son of Sir Elijah Impey (1702-1809), Chief Justice of Bengal, who was involved in the scandal and lawsuit against his friend Warren Hastings. The son wrote a memoir of his father, Hastings and other friends, published in 1846.
