Biographical History
The Field Operations Manager was in charge of public relations field offices located in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. Personnel in these offices performed all public relations functions in their respective geographic areas, acting as company news sources, speech writing bureaus, and contacts for press, radio, and television editors. They served on community relations committees and worked with central public relations staff departments on projects with educators, youth groups, and others. In addition, they performed all of the above functions for the Ford Division, Lincoln Division, Mercury Division, Continental Division, and Tractor and Implement Division public relations departments. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, all public relations functions were handled centrally. Effective February 1, 1952, the Ford Division and Lincoln-Mercury Division were assigned direct responsibility for the administration of public relations activities.
