Jimmie Davis (1899- ), Anglo-American country singer and songwriter from Louisiana, whose style was deeply influenced by early country music star Jimmie Rodgers. One of the first "hillbilly" singers to be signed by Decca, Davis had a long career as a singer and songwriter, including "You Are My Sunshine," as well as serving two terms as the governor of Louisiana.

Best known for his composition "You Are My Sunshine." which has been recorded by over 350 artists. Member, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Member, Country Music Hall of Fame.
