Delaware County Pledge of Resistance; Delco Pledge of Resistance; organized Fall 1986; headquartered in Swarthmore, PA, 1986-1991 and 2000-2008, and Media PA, 1991-2000; originally founded as part of The Pledge of Resistance, which began in 1984 in response to the threat of U.S. invasion into Nicaragua and grew as people signed a pledge resisting the U.S. government's policies toward Central America. Delaware County Pledge of Resistance persisted as a local group centered in Delaware County in Pennsylvania working for economic and social justice for oppressed people in the United States and abroad; it was especially concerned with issues concerning U.S. intervention in Central America; it disbanded in winter 2008.
