Originally composed for organ, 1920. Transcribed 1929. First performance Interlochen, Michigan, 14 August 1932, National High School Orchestra, Vladimir Bakaleinikov conductor, Philip Abbas soloist.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.

Skilton received his A.B. from Yale in 1889. He joined the faculty of KU as the Dean of the School of Fine Arts and as a Professor of History of Fine Arts in 1903. He also taught Organ and Theory of Music. He died in 1941.
