Music industry entrepreneur. Born August 22, 1914. Died December 4, 1989. Full name: Connie Barriot Gay. His entrepreneurial activities in radio, television, and as a promoter played a key role in the transformation of the country music industry from hillbilly music to modern entertainment. Creator of the Town and Country Time radio and television show. Founding member of the Country Music Association (CMA). Member, Country Music Hall of Fame.
