Biographical History
Robert Fox was born in 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. He obtained his BA in English from Brooklyn College and his MA in English from Ohio University. He taught creative writing and English at Ohio University and Rider College in Trenton, NY. He was writer-in-residence (Literary Coordinator) with the Ohio Arts Council and the editor of the Carpenter Press, established in 1974. He was the author of Destiny News, a short story collection published by the December Press in 1977. Many of his poems and stories have appeared in numerous literary magazines. In 1974 and the next year he was a finalist in the Iowa Letters Award for short fiction. He also served as a delegate from Ohio to the White House Conference on Libraries and Information Services in Washington, D.C., where he presented testimony before the National Commission on Literary Sciences and succeeded in amending a resolution on intellectual freedom to provide wider exposure for contemporary writers and their work. Fox died on March 4, 2005.
