Biographical History
The Catholic Art Association founded in 1937, was defunct by 1980. CAA aimed to restore among Catholics and non-Catholics a true understanding and good practice of the arts, for artists serve the material meeds of the Church. The arts to be understood and practiced include those that provide the necessities of everyday use as well as those that are specifically ecclesiastical.
CAA sponsored publications, workshops, and conventions on issues such as art programs for grammar and secondary education, architecture, work, and art ethics, and published a quarterly newsletter, Catholic Art Quarterly.
