The Bleitz Wildlife Foundation, devoted to wildlife preservation and study, was founded in 1952. Its main, unrealized objective was the preparation and publication of a multi-volume folio work, "Birds of America", to be written, photographed and edited by photographer and inventor Don Louis Bleitz. Bleitz was born 1 October 1915 in Los Angeles and died in the same city on 23 June 1986.
