Biographical History

Edward Wigglesworth (1732-1794) graduated from Harvard in 1749. In 1758 he entered into business in Boston with William Blair Townsend. Townsend and Wigglesworth was a firm specializing in the sale of imports and the commission business. Wigglesworth withdrew in 1762, turning over collection of the accounts to Deacon Thomas Hill and his son Henry Hill. Wigglesworth later became the second Hollis Professor of Divinity at Harvard. His son Thomas (d. 1855) graduated from Harvard in 1793 and was also in the commission business in Boston.
