Biographical History
Charles Thomas Lupton (1878-1935), a geologist, worked for the U.S. Geological Survey from 1907-1916. He was chief geologist for Rocky Mountain operations for Cosden Oil & Gas Company of Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1916-1919, and worked for Frantz Corporation of Denver, Colorado from 1919-1920. Lupton worked as a consulting geologist in Denver from 1920 until his death in 1935. While with the USGS, he investigated coal fields in Montana and oil and gas in the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming. His work was chiefly in the western United States, but included foreign petroleum investigations.
