Biographical History
James P. Baughman was born in 1936 and raised in Texas and earned his undergraduate degree fron Rice University in Houston. After completing his degree at Rice he attended Tulane University, in New Orleans, and earned his Masters and PhD in history and economics. He became a member of the Harvard Business School faculty in 1962, after teaching positions at Tulane University and the University of Houston. While teaching at Harvard and after he left Harvard, he served as consultant to a vast array of private firms and public companies such as General Electric, IBM, AT & T, and J.P. Morgan & Co. He is the author and co-author of numerous books, articles, and reviews concerning business management and history.
James P. Baughman taught business history at the Harvard Business School.
James Porter Baughman was born in 1936 and taught business history at the Harvard Business School. His earlier work focused on the 19th century shipping industry, but by the 1970s and 80s under the influence of Alfred D. Chandler, he was studying management strategy and structure, particularly at the General Electric Company.
