The Zonta Club of Laramie was chartered on June 8, 1951, at the Connor Hotel. Zonta's mission of service to the community was demonstrated in service projects, such as raising money for city parks, the restoration of the Ivinson Mansion, and the construction of the Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
The Zonta Club of Laramie (Wyo.) was chartered on June 8, 1951, with a charter dinner at the Connor Hotel. The club began with only 16 charter members: Miss Jo Browne, Mrs. Frances Cole, Mrs. Mildred Cowan, Mrs. Opal Funk, Miss Luella Galliver, Miss Lorraine Green, Miss Marian Julifs, Mrs. Laura Hall, Mrs. Verna Hitchcock, Mrs. Elaine Lake, Mrs. Jean Logsdon, Mrs. Dixie Melcher, Mrs. Mary Lou Pence, Mrs. Grayce Rardin, Mrs. Carrie Steele, and Mrs. Mildred Strauch . Mrs. Mildred Cowan served as the first president of the club.
Zonta's main priority has always been serving the community, and the club has been involved in countless service projects. These include raising money for city parks, the restoration of the Ivinson Mansion, and the construction of the Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
With its membership growing each year, Zonta has made itself known in the community through its involvement in improving the community, both as a club, and through the contributions of individual members. Over the years, Zonta members have held numerous elected offices, both local and state, and many have been honored in numerous ways.
