Biographical History

Daniel Oliver and his wife Emily started an orphanage in Lebanon in 1914 and continued to run it for 35 years, with the hope of providing for the needs of the children and giving them a belief in goodness. Daniel and Emily Oliver were originally British Quakers and ran the orphanage as well as an elementary school in the manner of Friends. Daniel Oliver was very concerned about the Palestine conflict and met with many local political leaders as well as the League of Nations, the American Friends Service Committee, and the Friend's Service Council to discuss the issue.
