Thomas J. Gent, Jr. (b. 1911, Oil City, Pa.-d. Aug. 1, 1974), U.S. Air Force officer, graduated from West Point in 1935 and earned his pilot wings the following year. He served tours as a pilot, general's aide, group commander, instructor pilot, base operations officer, and executive officer, until named in 1944 as commander of the 449th Bombardment Group, 15th Air Force in Europe, flying B-24s. General Gent was commander, 314th Air Division, in Korea, with additional duty as deputy commander of the 5th Air Force. In the mid-1950s he was an Air chief of staff for Operations at the Pentagon. In 1961 he was assigned command of the 32nd Air Division. He retired from Air Force service in October 1963.
