Hartop, Robert W.

Sometime in 1960, Robert W. Hartop began his career at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He started in Section 332, Communications Engineering and Operations. By 1968, he was reassigned to Section 335, the Radio Science Radio Frequency Development Section. The section generated radio science data, i.e., the frequency and amplitude of spacecraft transmitted signals affected by passage through media such as the solar corona, planetary atmospheres, and planetary rings.

By 1964, Hartop was known for his research and writing about the DSN's 34 and 64-meter antennas at Goldstone, California. Years later, during the period of 1974 through 1979, he wrote several Tracking Data Analyst Publication Reports as well as a few Deep Space Network Progress Reports. One of the titles in relation to these antennas, was "Microwave Time Delays in the DSN 34-and 64-meter antennas," DSN Progress Report 42-51, pp. 183-185, March and April 1979.

In 1975, he received his fifteen-year service award as a JPLer. He retired from the Laboratory during 1994.
