Governor of Georgia and Indian agent.
Valentine Walker served as served as Brigadier General of the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division of the Georgia State Militia beginning in 1810.
David Brydie Mitchell (1766-1837) was born in Scotland and came to Savannah in 1783. He studied law and was admitted to the bar. He was Solicitor-General of Georgia in 1795 and a member of the Georgia Legislature in 1796. He was appointed Major-General of Militia in 1804. Mitchell served as Governor of Georgia, 1809-1813, and 1815-1817. After his term of office as Governor, he was appointed U.S. Agent to the Creek Nation, with whom he concluded a treaty in 1818. He was a firm supporter of public education.

Mitchell was dismissed from his agency post after Georgia governor John Clark, a political opponent, charged him with smuggling African slaves into the country.
