Biographical History
Julius Kahn Lacey (b. 1904, Elizabethton, Tenn.-d. July 5, 1992), U.S. Air Force officer, received his commission and graduated from Advanced Flying School in 1930. He later earned a master's degree in meteorology at MIT and planned the new Weather Service for the Air Corps. He was sent to Europe in 1942 to analyze meteorological issues as they affected the Royal Air Force and U.S. bomber command. His wartime assignments included command of a flying fortress group, 8th Air Force, and command of the 94th Combat Bomb Wing in England. During the 1950s, General Lacey became vice commander, 5th Air Force, in the Far East Air Force, and was appointed commandant, USAF Institute of Technology, Air University.
