Avery announced the formation of the Chisholm Trail Centennial Commission to develop and coordinate Kansas' official recognition of the 1867 founding of the Chisholm Trail. Jamison, Abilene; M. Dale Larsen, Wichita; Nyle Miller, secretary to the Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka; Wendell B. Parks, Wichita; Menno Schmidt, Newton; and Mrs. R. W.
