Biographical History

George Gould (1905-1990) was a professional actor whose career in Cleveland, Ohio was varied and long-lasting. Gould started in the early 1930s with the Royal American Show, an African American theatre group based in Tampa, Florida. Gould remained with the Royal American Show until the late 1950s, at which time Cleveland, Ohio, became his base of operations. He performed in several productions at the Cleveland Playhouse, but the majority of his work was done at Karamu House under the direction of Dorothy and Reuben Silver.
