Biographical History
The Consumer’s Light and Power Company owned its brief existence to the genius and energy of Simon Oppenheimer, who intended it to be a competitor with the Washington Water Power Company. With money borrowed from the Amsterdamsch Trustee’s Kantoor, Oppenheimer set up the Northwest Milling and Power Co. and the Consumer’s Light and Power Company. When his credit was overextended and investors foreclosed, Oppenheimer fled to South America.
