Biographical History
Consultant, writer, lecturer, Bauman graduated from the University of Minnesota (1924) and attended the New School for Social Research (1944-1945). She was regional supervisor for the Works Projects Administration in St. Paul (1941-42) before moving to New York City to work for the Federal Works Administration (1943-45). As a free-lance writer for magazines and the Women's News Service, she traveled extensively, covering fifteen international conferences (1952-1956). She was a consultant to the Office of Private Cooperation, U.S. Information Agency (1956-1957) and to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in the 1960s. A member of the boards of the National Council of Women and the International Assembly of Women, she has also been affiliated with the National Council for the Panel of Americans and the Institute of International Education.
