Biographical History

Dr. Julian Ansell earned his M.D. in urology at the University of Minnesota. In 1959 he became head of the Division of Urology at the University of Washington and was named first chairman of the Dept. of Urology in 1965. He held that position until 1987, when he became emeritus chairman.

Ansell's urologic interests include potassium imbalances in urinary diversion, surgical treatment of cancer of the prostate, and reconstruction for congenital urologic problems, particularly exstrophy of the urinary bladder. He has published widely and has been a member of several urology societies and editorial boards.
