Biographical History
Company founded in 1946 by Robert and Joseph Switzer, who developed ways to make photoluminescent paints and dyes. These paints and dyes were used by the military to mark airplanes as well as uniforms, and to detect flaws in airplane engines and other parts. They were also used extensively in the graphic arts industry, for product advertising and packaging. The company, which began as the Conti-Glo Division of Continental Lithograph Corporation, became Switzer Brothers, Inc., and later, Day-Glo Corporation, and was sold in 1986 to Nalco Chemical Corporation.
