John Fitzpatrick was a merchant of New Orleans and Bayou Manchac, La.

John Fitzpatrick was Secretary of the Louisiana Division of the Association of the Army of Northern Virginia. Based in New Orleans, this branch of the association was interested in establishing a historical association and in erecting a monument and tomb in Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans, for the use of association members. Correspondents of Fitzpatrick included General William Henry Fitzhugh, president of the Virginia Division of the Association in Richmond; Charles T. Howard, president of the Louisiana Lottery Association and of the Metairie Cemetery Association; Leon Jastremski and W. H. Favrot of Baton Rouge; and Father Ryan of Mobile, Alabama.
