Lucy Komisar was born in the Bronx in April 1942. She participated in several activities on behalf of civil rights, including editing the Mississippi Free Press for one year.
Freelance writer and editor, Lucy Komisar was vice president for public relations for the National Organization for Women (1970-1971) and also served on the Compliance Committee. She was the author of The New Feminism (1972), Down and Out in the USA: A History of Social Welfare (1973), and Corazon Aquino: The Story of a Revolutionary (1987).
