Jennie Parks was born in 1875 in Texas; she moved to Arizona in 1881 with her family. The Parks family lived in Duncan, Ariz. for nine years (1991-1900), before moving to Solomonville. Jennie's father, John Parks, and several of her brothers worked as sheriffs or deputies in Gila and Graham Counties and were members of the Duncan Guard, a militia unit formed in 1885 to protect settlers in the area. Jennie married Frank Ringgold and they lived in Clifton, Globe and later California. She wrote "Frontier Days in the Southwest" about her family's experiences.
