Biographical History

William Allison opened a store in July 1827 with James and John Potter at Browns Mills (now Reedsville, Pa.). When the firm dissolved in 1829, Allison carried on the business alone for a few years, moved to Spring Mills, and in 1847, as a significant creditor, purchased the factory, hotel, and real estate at Potters Mills (Centre Co., Pa.) when the brothers' business failed. Allison relocated to Potters Mills and moved into James' residence.

From the description of William Allison financial records, 1801-1852, 1941. (Pennsylvania State University Libraries). WorldCat record id: 48909518
