Biographical History
Henry M. Jones was born in Kingston, Massachusetts on November 13, 1859, the son of Dr. Henry N. and Sofia (Martin) Jones, and died in Kingston from myocarditis on June 10, 1926.
(cont.) His obituary in the June 18, 1926 edition of the Old Colony Memorial notes that he "was a graduate of the Kingston High School, and of the Northfield, Vermont Military Academy. He married Miss Abby B. Holmes, daughter of the late Edward Holmes of this town [Kingston], who passed away several years ago. . . . He was a member of the First Parish church of Kingston, and of Adams Lodge, I.O.O.F. Just previous to his last illness, Mr. Jones had completed an historical booklet on 'The Old Ship Building Days in Kingston,' which he wrote in connection with the coming celebration of the 200th anniversary of the town of Kingston." He had no descendents.
(cont.) During the 1890s (and perhaps later) Henry M. Jones was the proprietor of a factory in the Triphammer section of Kingston, which manufactured tacks and channel nails. A piece of letterhead used by his company notes that the production of machine tacks for the shoe industry was a specialty.
