Mary Tyler Peabody Mann was an active social reformer, educator, and author. Along with her sisters, Elizabeth Peabody and Sophia Peabody Hawthorne, she created and maintained vital connections within the Transcendentalist movement. Mary and her husband, educator Horace Mann, were active abolitionists. The sisters's practical application of optimism and human kindness brought them much notoriety and goodwill.
Mary Tyler Peabody Mann, the wife of Horace Mann and sister of Elizabeth Palmer Peabody and Sophia Peabody Hawthorne, was an American writer and prolific letter-writer.
