Biographical History

Charlotte Cheney McMorran (1900-1991) was born and died in Port Huron, Mich. The daughter of David Williams and Charlotte Cheney Holden McMorran, Charlotte enjoyed the privileged live of the upper class, attending the Liggett School in Detroit and Pine Manor. She was then sent abroad to "finish" her education. In her twenties, Charlotte spent a few years in Europe, mostly in France, where she befriended the artist and architect Henri Walbert, the author of "Residences et plantations dans la vallée de l'Ohio et du Mississipi au début du XIXème siècle" (1948), and his wife, Line. Henri and Line are pictured in the photographs.
