Biographical History
E. Wendell Echols (1926-2010), was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a collector of jazz memorabilia, and worked closely with George H. Buck, Jr., businessman and record producer. Echols was a member of the Board of Directors of the George H. Buck, Jr. Jazz Foundation, founded by Buck in 1949. The Foundation was an umbrella organization for Buck's record labels American Music Records, Audiophile Records, Black Swan Records, Circle Records, G.H.B. Records, Jazzology Records, Progressive Records, Solo Art Records, and Southland Records. Echols managed the Audiophile and Circle labels, and was responsible for Circle's dedication to big band music. He died in 2010 at the age of 83.
