Biographical History
Actress Lorraine Huling Maynard was born in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Floyd and Florence Simmons Huling. After the Hulings divorced, Florence worked in Chicago as a nurse/receptionist for a man who later became her lover; she later married another man named Charles Young. Lorraine was often cared for by her grandmother and sent to a number of boarding schools in the United States and abroad. Encouraged by her mother to go on the stage, Lorraine went to Hollywood and appeared in a number of films. In 1917 she married Richard Field Maynard, a portrait painter and Harvard graduate; they had two daughters. She was the author of four books, including Twinkle Little Movie Star (1927).
