Biographical History

The First United Church of Christ, Millvale, Pa, was founded in 1887 by a group of German immigrants dissatisfied with the St. John's Missouri Lutheran Church of Fredrick Street in Millvale. It was originally called Erste Deutsche Evangelische Kirche of Millvale (First German Evangelical Church of Millvale), becoming the the First Evangelical Lutheran Church shortly after the First World War. In 1957, the congregation merged with the Congregational Church of Christ becoming the First United Church of Christ. The Church building on North Ave., constructed in 1888, was renovated in 1934.
