Mark Hildesley was Bishop of Sodor and Man from 1755 to 1772; Rector of Hitchin, district in Hertfordshire, including Holwell, in ABedordshire, from 1735 to 1767; Chaplain to Henry St. John, Viscount Bolingbroke, and his son John, Viscount St. John; Master of Christian Hospital, Durham, 1767; promoted Manx translations of the Bible and Book of Common Prayer.
