After the war he came to Logan to visit his parents, later joining the Mormon Church. He died in Logan in 1898 after having served many positions in Logan City government. His granddaughter was Mrs. Calvin Rampton, First Lady of Utah for 12 years. Cardon had three wives, the last of which, Ella Hinckley, he married June 24, 1885, in the Logan Temple.
