Biographical History

Frank Tuohy was an acclaimed author, notable for his powerful, traditional short stories exploring the theme of alienation. Born in Sussex and educated at Cambridge, Tuohy's early life was impacted by a heart condition; unfit for military service in World War II, he became a traveller, visiting such places as Finland, Brazil, and Poland, and featuring the places he visited in his technically accomplished fiction. Chiefly known for his observant novels and short stories, he lectured and taught throughout the world, as well as writing a travelogue and a highly-praised biography of William Butler Yeats.
