Biographical History

Frank Lee Benns was professor of history at Indiana University from 1920-1945; his papers are in the Indiana University Archives. Kate Lee was the only child of the Benns's. She was schooled in Bloomington, graduated from Indiana University in the late 1930s, and married Keith Bates Robinson, a newspaper publisher in Rensselaer, Indiana. They had one child, Schuyler Lee Robinson, b. 1941, who died of complications from Hodgkin's disease in 1973. Following her husband's death in 1989, Kate returned to Bloomington and subsequently married widower, Robert Sturgeon, professor emeritus of Economics at IU. She died in Bloomington in 1997.
