Biographical History
Percival Butler, a native of Pennsylvania, was one of five brothers, all of whom gained some prominence through military service in the Revolutionary War. He came to Kentucky in 1784, settling in Port William in 1796. Butler served as Kentucky's first adjutant general from statehood in 1792 through the War of 1812.
