Biographical History
Photographer and civic leader Elmer Ogawa was born in Seattle in 1906 of Japanese and German-Irish parents. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Ogawa was a freelance photographer, especially of Seattle's International District, and a journalist. He was active in the Seattle Japanese American Citizens League, 1945-1971; the Nisei Veterans Committee, 1949-1969; and the Jackson Street Community Council, 1952-1966. Ogawa died in 1970.
