Floyd E. Johnson was an architect in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was especially noted for the restoration work he directed at Monticello. Mr. Johnson was born in 1909 and educated at the University of Virginia. By 1940 he had established the architectural firm of Johnson, Craven & Gibson. He designed both private homes and public buildings, taught at the University of Virginia School of Architecture, and served on the Albemarle Planning Commission and on the Virginia Fine Arts Commission. He restored a number of old homes around Charlottesville, including Glen Echo, Bellair, Edgemont, Cherry Hill Farm, Belle Grove, and his own home Glendower Mill House. Floyd Johnson died in October 1999.
