Biographical History
Homer Smith (1896-) was born in Illinois. His father's family were builders and his mother's family were farmers; he was an architect and a farmer. In 1957, he established a homestead on the Kenai Peninsula. His experiences there prompted him to write two books on the difficulties of horticulture in the 49th state. They were "Farming on the 60th Parallel" and "Far North Farming: Alaska vs. Scandinavia."
