Biographical History

Pioneer Georgetown, Colo. editor and publisher, Jesse Summer Randall was born to Abraham and Mary A. Randall on April 23, 1848 in Fleming County, Ky. Randall began his career at a young age as a typesetter for numerous newspapers in the Midwest. In 1859, he began work at the Des Moines Tribune. He later moved to Georgetown, Colorado in 1869 and worked for the local paper: the Georgetown Miner. Randall founded the Georgetown Courier in May 1877 and in addition to managing the Courier, he sold minerals from his newspaper office. On June 11 1874, he married Cornelia A. Hendricks of Des Moines, Iowa. The couple had two children: Pearl, and Cornelius. In 1936, when Randall's eyes began to fail him, he left his publishing business to his son Cornelius Randall. Cornelia Randall died on July 4 1938. Jesse S. Randall died at age 91 on January 24, 1939.
