Biographical History
David Sears was a writer on modern dance. He graduated from New York University where he received a teaching degree. He wrote for Dance News and Ballet Review as well as other lesser-known publications. At the time of his death he was working on a book on Martha Graham and her use of Greek themes in her choreography. He died on June 24, 1992.
David Sears (1948-1992) was a writer on modern dance.
Raised in the Boston, Massachusetts area, he attended Northwestern University and graduated from New York University, where he received a teaching degree. Sears wrote about dance for Ballet Review and Dance News, as well as other lesser-known publications, including the gay bar periodical, Michael's Thing. He also at one time had been a puppeteer for the Niccolo Marionettes, as well as his own Black Cat puppet theater. At the time of his death, Sears was working on a book on Martha Graham and her use of Greek themes in her choreography.
